Ephesians 5:25, 28-29

25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,... 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,30 because we are members of his body.

So my wife called me the other morning and said 'Hey baby you wanna meet me at the local coffee shop on your break and share a coffee...' I quickly said 'yes of course I do, baby! I'll see you there!'   We met and walked in together.  I was in a laser like focused mode, a friend of mine had asked me to grab him a coffee too before I headed back to the office.  I walked right up and ordered MY coffee, and my buddies coffee as well...and just paid for it, remember MY WIFE is standing right beside me.  I joked with the barista...and then said the following FOOLISH words. 'Oh hey and whatever she wants.'  My amazing bride just simply half smiled and put her head down and ordered...as we sat waiting on our coffee she said quietly, 'that hurt.'  Stupid male me said 'what hurt?' She had to explain how I had just wounded her spirit...man I'm thick headed  sometimes.   I was in no way thinking of hurting her, but because I had not been loving her the way I loved my own body I hurt her.
How foolish and stupid of me!
I hurt my WIFE!  The woman I would take a bullet for just got hurt by ME!  Her husband.
Men this is why we have to be on point.  We really need to PAY attention! We can easily get distracted by things that really don't matter.  My wife should have been my priority, she should have been my focus.  She engaged me and wanted me to engage her, but I was so short sighted that I missed an opportunity to be her hero.
I quickly moved to seek out forgiveness and reconciliation because of my selfish short sighted move.  She was so sweet and gracious to extend that forgiveness, but I still beat myself up for even getting to that point. I mean this woman is everything to me.  How silly of me?!  Any other guys in the house ever done something like this?

This is another good reason to keep God's word close to your heart. He's always going to point you in  a direction that will put you in a good place!
Just think of the outcome if had I just simply engaged my brain and re-called this verse?
28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,30 because we are members of his body. (Eph 5:28-29)
I would have been her hero, had I just taken the time to cherish her  and put her needs first!
My wife has a desire to be cherished and loved.  I as her husband have been commanded by God to give her that.  In fact God's word says that if I'm not loving her like this then my prayer life will be hindered.

1 Peter 3:7

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you[a] of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

So this is my declaration to my wife and to the world that she will be my priority she will be loved and cherished.
