We made an agreement we would not go anywhere that we would normally go on trips. We wanted to see and experience all new stuff. We were driving to find a museum that we thought we wanted to go to.
I turned on what I thought was the road to this museum, turns out that I turned a block early. We stumbled upon a wedding reception dinner, well actually the recitation had not quite started, but that did not stop us. I saw a GIANT sign that said 'I DO.' Jamie and I both looked at each other and said 'Let's get a picture.' Here it is...
We started to head back to the car...when I said, 'Jamie look!' There was a white tent with hundreds of chairs and more props and giant blow up balls that said 'LOVE' all over them. So, of course, I wanted to go check all of that out.
We ended up talking with one of the wedding decorators and got to read these giant letters that they (the married couple) had written to each other. Found out more than we could have possibly imagined about this couple.
I tried to convince my wife to go to the mall with me and go buy some 'fancier clothes and we could come back and eat dinner.' She totally shut me down. She did not want to be rude. So I agreed. 😜
But nevertheless, we did something totally off the beaten path. We met people and saw stuff we would have never met or seen had we kept driving to our original destination.
We were not planning on any of that, but sometimes the stuff we plan to do changes into things that are way more fun. Jamie and I laughed about that 20-minute experience all weekend.
Don't be afraid to do something different in your marriage and in your life. Fear is something that will cause you to miss out on so many amazing opportunities, people and experiences if you let it.
Go do something insane!
