So I was just scrolling through Facebook...and saw someone posting videos of a SMALL baby waking up from a nap in a car, the small child started pumping their firsts in the air to a song that was saying/singing 'yeah B**tc*, yeah B**tc*, yeah B**tc* I'm a bad boy.' and they post it with the comment of: 'This is gonna be my little nephew soon.' Seriously??!! They thought this was cute!
This is why our culture is so messed up. We are totally blind. We have 'ADULTS' who think that teaching our children to speak with cruelty to each other is totally fine. It's not fine. If I walked into a room and screamed out at a group of women 'yeah B**tc*, yeah B**tc*, yeah B**tc* I'm a bad boy.' I'd be in trouble, and rightfully so. IT'S WRONG!
What we as parents are allowing our children to be exposed to is truly damaging. What we shrug off as something that is cute when a child is 3 or 4 years old does it...can become something that is very destructive as that child grows to an adult. The proof of this can be seen every night on the nightly news.
What's even more concerning is that parents who claim to follow Jesus think stuff like this is 'cute' or 'funny.'
The Bible gives us a mandate on how we should live as Christ followers.
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Colossians 3:8
Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. Eph. 5:4
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.Eph: 4:29
But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 2 Tim 2:16
These are just a few verses...but God has called us to teach our children differently.
5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deut. 6:5-9
Dear parents stop this insanity of going along with our foul culture. Live your faith before you children, and when you do stumble and fall...let your kids see you actively REPENT! This is the only way we can redeem this thing. Outside of us trusting in Jesus, and walking in and by faith in HIM we're doomed.
Sorry this is not a chipper post, but I think in order for things to change we have to look the ugliness right in the face, and then bring beauty to the equation...and that beauty is Jesus Christ!
We have got to start making the best use of our time. Because we are here for just a few moments in the scope of eternity.
15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 5:15-20
